April 6, 2019 (Bastogne, Belgium). Inspired by the leadership of United States Ambassador to the Kingdom of Belgium Ronald Gidwitz, the American Overseas Memorial Day Association Foundation has created the Bastogne Memorial Fund to restore the Mardasson Memorial. This Memorial in Bastogne, Belgium honors the 90,000 American casualties of the Battle of the Bulge. The Memorial was inaugurated on July 16, 1950 in the presence of General Anthony C. McAuliffe. It serves not only as a witness to the sacrifices made during the Battle of the Bulge, but it also serves as the stage for important commemorations. Unfortunately, 70 years of notorious Bastogne winters have taken its toll on the monument and it is in urgent need of restoration. The Bastogne Memorial Fund will prepare the monument for the upcoming commemorations of the 75thanniversary of the Battle of the Bulge, and ensure its long-term structural integrity going into the future. Please help the Bastogne Memorial Fund preserve this enduring Memorial to the lives lost in the Battle of the Bulge.
